BIOSEON - Personal Bioelectric Current Meter
This instrument is for measuring the rhythm of bioelectric current in order to check the health condition in daily life. The software has been developed with Borland C++ and works on Windows environment. In human body there are various rhythms such as heart pulsation or menstruation. The nervous system also has a certain rhythm. The following figure shows the electric potential measured between index finger and ground.
It might be hard to recognize the specific rhythm from the above figure, however BIOSEON transforms that signal to power spectra of frequency in real-time using a successive Fourier transformation method (® UTD) as,
[Experiment Conditions] sampling interval: 250 m sec time window: 100 msec window function: do-nothing window measuring period: 90 sec interval between time windows: 1.5 sec So we can easily see the existence of specific frequency, or rhythm of bioelectric current around 450 Hz in this case. (The spectra appeared lower than 300 Hz are mainly caused from the bias voltage.) Although that characteristic frequency is slightly different among individuals, here it is called a "base frequency". The following figure shows the electric potential measured on the person smoking during the experiment under the same condition as above.
As you can see, the base frequency is slightly shifted toward lower side. And the background around that the base frequency is higher than that of previous experiment. The following figure shows the spectra of electric potential measured between healthy mouse's tail and ground.
In this case a significant spectrum can be seen around 600 Hz, while the same experiment on another mouse having a tumor (diameter: 12mm) shows higher background as seen in the following figure,
(Although there are some other significant differences, here those differences are not mentioned further.) As the reference, the following figure is the result of measuring just background.
These experiments suggest that the S/N ratio of the base frequency has close relation with one's health condition. Plainly saying, the higher the background, the poorer his or her health condition. BIOSEON shows user's health condition both graphically and digitally based on the measurement of that S/N ratio. How to use BIOSEON is very simple. Firstly connect the I/O interface DA-FerFT to your PC's printer port. After putting your finger on the measuring plate, click the Start button shown on the monitor. That's all! Your health index is automatically displayed on the PC screen. (Caution: after drinking alcohol or smoking, the indication might show incorrect results) I/O interface DA-FerFT for BIOSEON has been developed based on Graham Cattley's "Pocket Sampler" published on Electronics Australia in August 1996. With BIOSEON, check & keep your health condition in daily life! |
